RADIOTHERAPY CENTER IN KRAKOW

On the premises of the Krakow Specialist Hospital. L. Rydygier, a modern Amethyst radiotherapy center is being built. The first patients are expected to be admitted at the end of 2013.

The investor is Radiology Therapeutic Center Poland (RTCP), selected in a tender announced by the hospital. For 3 thousand square meters, a modern radiotherapy, brachytherapy facility and a radiotherapy clinic will be built. Thanks to this, the Specialist Hospital named after Rydygiera will become a full-profile oncology center, i.e. it will guarantee diagnostics and full oncological combined treatment. RTCP will introduce international standards of patient service and medical procedures, and doctors will consult more difficult cases with the partner clinic Center Prive de Radiotherapie de Metz. The radiotherapy center being built in Krakow will employ over 30 people, including 6 doctors and 8 physicists. All of them will undergo training in France, gaining knowledge of the most modern solutions used in radiotherapy in the world. The center will be able to admit 2000 patients annually.

The first construction works are already underway - the construction contractor, the Warsaw company Karmar, is installing facilities for employees. The schedule assumes that the installation of specialized radiotherapy equipment will begin in the summer in the newly constructed building. These will be the latest generation of accelerators from the Swedish company Elekta.

The Krakow radiotherapy center being built by RTCP is to become a model example of cooperation between a public hospital and a non-public investment.
