SCIENCE ABOUT RADIOTHERAPY

Marcin Hetnał, MD, PhD, medical director of the Amethyst Radiotherapy Center, and Marta Urbańska-Gąsiorowska, radiotherapist at this center, take part in XNUMXth Congress of Radiation Oncology, which takes place on October 18-19 in Łódź. This is an important event that enables Polish radiotherapists to meet and discuss the latest research achievements in this field.

Marcin Hetnał is one of the chairmen of the session devoted to brachytherapy. Marta Urbańska-Gąsiorowska will deliver a lecture on "Brachytherapy for head and neck cancer - cooperation between a surgeon and a radiation oncologist."

The Radiation Oncology Congress is just one of the events devoted to oncology that takes place in the fall. In September, a conference was held in Poznań at the Wielkopolska Oncology Center Interventional radiotherapy. It is a specialized workshop during which doctors, medical physicists and other medical staff share the latest knowledge acquired during the Meeting of the American Brachytherapy Society (ABS). The conference was attended by Dr. Marcin Hetnał, who delivered two papers:

  • "APBI - current state of knowledge" - during the first session "Independent, interventional radiotherapy for breast cancer",
  •  "The current place of brachytherapy in the treatment of soft tissue and central nervous system tumors" - during the fifth session "Interventional radiotherapy in other locations".
