BRACHYTHERAPY VS LUNG CANCER

Radiotherapists and pulmonologists from the hospital in Proszowice participated in the first bronchial brachytherapy procedure performed at the Amethyst Radiotherapy Center.

The stage of the disease of the man undergoing the procedure made earlier surgical treatment and removal of the tumor impossible - the tumor infiltration caused complete closure of the main bronchus. This not only caused breathing problems, but also made it impossible to precisely locate the tumor in order to undergo radiotherapy. Thanks to the brachytherapy treatment, the Center's doctors improved the patient's well-being and have a chance to continue his treatment, which gives him a chance for full recovery.

Bronchial brachytherapy is a chance for many patients with advanced lung cancer to prolong life and improve its quality. Lung cancer is statistically the most common cause of death among oncology patients.
