The conference " Multidisciplinary oncology – multi-specialty teams as a chance for greater effectiveness of oncological treatment " will be held in Krakow, at the newly opened Amethyst Radiotherapy Center, on December 11, 2013. It is scheduled to begin at 10:00 a.m. Participants will include Prof. CI Kiricuta and Prof. Razvana Galalae, world authorities in the field of radiotherapy.

The conference accompanies the opening of the first Amethyst Radiotherapy Center in Poland. The aim of the network is to implement the latest medical achievements and guarantee all patients access to modern equipment, the best specialists and therapeutic methods, including combined treatment. It involves the use of several therapeutic methods in the same patient, most often surgery, systemic treatment and radiotherapy. Thanks to combined treatment, it is possible to obtain the best therapy results. This method requires efficient work of multidisciplinary teams.

Combination therapy is currently recommended by all guidelines, standards, and recommendations worldwide. However, in Poland, it still faces many procedural and mental barriers, which is why the Amethyst network wants to promote this multidisciplinary approach to oncology. It invites specialists, clinical oncologists, and oncological surgeons to join the discussion. The initiative kicks off with the conference " Multidisciplinary oncology – multidisciplinary teams: a chance for greater effectiveness of oncological treatment ." The patron of this initiative is Professor Stanisław Korzeniowski, MD, PhD, Regional Consultant for Radiation Oncology.

10.00 – 10.30 – registration of participants

10.30 – 11.00 – opening of the seminar and tour of the Amethyst Radiotherapy Center

  • speech by prof. Ph.D. Stanisław Korzeniowski, provincial consultant in the field of oncological radiotherapy,
