ABOUT RADIOTHERAPY DURING RUHR TALKS

At the beginning of June, specialists from all over Europe met at an interdisciplinary radiology conference in Gelsenkirchen. Representatives of the Amethyst Radiotherapy group also participated.

Ruhr Talks is a prestigious international radiology conference that took place this year on June 9-10, 2017 in Gelsenkirchen. The main topic was high-precision modulated radiation intensity, stereotactic radiotherapy and adaptive brachytherapy. Traditionally, the meeting was interdisciplinary in nature, participants could take part in many different lectures and discussion panels and talk to international experts.

The organizer of the industry meeting was prof. Razvan Galalae, director of Amethyst Radiotherapy's medical board, who also moderated the scientific sessions. Other specialists associated with the Amethyst Radiotherapy group and members of its board also gave presentations during the conference, including: prof. Anca Grosu, prof. Guy Storme, prof. Gabriel Kacso or Dr. Marcin Hetnał, director of the Amethyst Radiotherapy Center in Krakow. The lectures were devoted to the history and future of radiotherapy, as well as various cancer treatment methods and their results. Below we present selected topics of the lecture:

  • prof. Guy Storme (University Hospital UZ in Brussels): "Oligometastatic disease - five year results of a personalized treatment strategy"
  • prof. Anca Grosu (University Hospital Freiburg): "Five year results of the PET-Plan trial – a future reference study?"
  • prof. Gabriel Kacso (medical director of the Amethyst Center in Cluj-Napoca): "External beam pelvic radiotherapy combined with High-Dose-Rate image-guided adaptive brachytherapy (HDR-IGABT) boost for prostate cancer – 5 year results and early results of successor protocol"
  • prof. Jarosław Kużdżał (Kraków John Paul II Specialist Hospital): "Palliative management in thoracic oncology".
