A GUIDE TO BRACHYTHERAPY

A specialized publication on brachytherapy was published by the Amethyst Radiotherapy Center. The brachytherapy guide is a compendium of knowledge about this oncological treatment technique. Provides general issues and detailed information on the treatment of breast, bronchial and tracheal, prostate, uterine, head and neck cancers, esophageal cancer and superficial treatment of skin cancers.

The aim of the publication is to comprehensively explain the course of treatment to patients and make it easier for them to undertake the difficulties of therapy.

Brachytherapy is one of the techniques of cancer radiotherapy. This is a treatment using a radiation source placed in direct contact with the tumor. This often requires the installation of special applicators, and depending on the location of the disease, brachytherapy may have very different course.

Brachytherapy has been used at the Amethyst Radiotherapy Center since June 2014. In 2017, 350 brachytherapy treatments were performed, which is used in 14 percent of patients at the Krakow facility.
