KNOWLEDGE ABOUT THE TREATMENT OF BREAST CANCER

On Monday, April 1, Dr. Agata Romaniszyn, MD, specialist in oncological radiation therapy, will give a lecture on the treatment of breast cancer. The lecture will start at 17.00 p.m. in room no. 5 of the Collegium Medicum building at ul. Kopernika 25 in Krakow. The organizer of the meeting is the Krakow Amazon Society.

Agata Romaniszyn is a member of the medical team of the Amethyst Radiotherapy Center in Krakow, she has prepared a Brachytherapy Guide for patients and their families.

It is important that patients have access to knowledge. In breast cancer, modern techniques - surgery and radiotherapy - increasingly allow the use of the so-called sparing treatment, the tumor is removed, but the patient retains the breast. Modern oncological therapies also include individual solutions, closely tailored to the history of oncological disease and other diseases of a given patient. Within radiotherapy itself, there is a large variety of methods used in the treatment of breast cancer. Classic teleradiotherapy is supplemented or completely replaced by brachytherapy (irradiation method when the radiation source is located directly from the tumor site or its immediate vicinity).
